What is Osteopathy?
According to the Institute of Osteopathy Only 10% of the UK population use Osteopaths.
To help raise awareness I have written a brief description of Osteopathy.
Osteopathy is a non-invasive physical therapy aimed at improving the structure and function of the musculoskeletal framework, which in turn has a positive impact on your wellbeing and internal health.
An Osteopath will use stretching, joint and soft tissue manipulation and massage to increase joint mobility.
This improvement in body structure in turn has a functional improvement of the cardiovascular, lymphatic and neurological systems improving internal health.
Osteopathy can help with back and joint pain, muscular aches and pains, Osteoarthritis, sports injuries, Rheumatoid arthritis, repetitive strains, poor posture, work related injury...the list goes on.
During your first visit to an Osteopath you will have a medical case history taken so they are able to get a whole picture of your current and past state of health.
A physical examination will then be performed using palpation (touch) and assessing joint movements.
A working diagnosis along with treatment plan will be given before treatment starts.
Your Osteopath may also give you lifestyle advice and/or stretches for you to do at home.
Please feel free to drop me a line for some friendly, impartial advice. TEL: 0754 6015296
